Viniyoga
At Yoga Therapy Anchorage you will experience a professionally structured and taught yoga, known as viniyoga, in the tradition of T.K.V. Desikachar combining postures, breathing exercises, relaxation, and meditation. Viniyoga puts each person as an individual in the center.
Viniyoga is not another new yoga style. It is a body-centred form of therapy that uses movement, breath, and energy in order to stimulate the body’s self-regulatory powers. It is extremely low-risk to practice viniyoga and can be done by anyone as it is free from acrobatics and religious beliefs. The focus is on the individual human with her/his/their needs no matter what the circumstances and the experience.

This individual handling is what defines viniyoga.

Your Therapist Anna Steinmann
Certified Yoga Therapist OdA-KT (Organisation of Swiss Alternative Medicine Professionals), Member of the IAYT (The International Association of Yoga Therapists) and a current graduate student for rehabilitation and clinical mental health counseling.
I spent most of my life in Switzerland where I studied yoga therapy for the past 15 years. In 2018 I obtained my "Advanced Swiss Federal Diploma of Professional Education and Training as a Complementary Therapist in Yoga Therapy". A 4-year degree acknowledged by the Swiss Federal Government and the professional healthcare industry.
As a yoga therapist I am a health care professional. I holistically promote the healing process of people with health complaints, impairments of their general well-being, and inability to perform, as well as people in rehabilitation.

I initiate clients’ self-perception and processes of consciousness, thus allowing existing resources to be strengthened, and facilitate reorientation.

I respect each individual’s possibilities and the practice will be suitable.

What Clients and Professionals Say
Anna introduced me to yoga therapy which helped me control my panic attacks and fears and make me feel strong and capable again. Her services fully aligned with my needs and she was flexible with scheduling and even came to see me at home for my first therapy session.
– A.S., Client
Yoga therapy with Anna saved my life after a big health scare. Anna gave me the tools to my self-healing powers and her empathy laid the foundation to start the process of trusting myself, my body and my mind again. Working with my body with the tools of yoga therapy made me feel safe again.
